| The area around San Ramon is
very pretty, quite hilly and the roads are windy. The weather was a little
cloudy, but the temperature was perfect for a "tough" hash. |
| The early people gather... and discuss the latest
fashions. |
The group grew rather quickly from that
point .... |
... as these people know that the hash
will start on time! |
| The discussions were quite varied &
interesting... |
...don't sell your Bolivars for dollars
quite just yet! |
Wow Iain that hurts; you are quite a
strong man! |
| The group is circled up.... |
... for hellos...
... and introductions. |
| The Hares are introduced.... |
... and tell a tale of a very... |
.. tough hash ahead! |
| No, we aren't kidding! |
There are looks of concern... |
... but we are off anyway! |

The gate slows the exit... and the runners head to the right ...or was
it to the left? |

After some confusion, Henny decides to forget "the kid" & catches up with the
others. |
The walkers go the other direction ... and head into oblivion. I say
that because the hash was a long one!
About 90 minutes later the first walkers return... as thirsty as they have
ever been...
| Are people threatening to jump or looking
for others? |
No, they are looking at
a burning government building; the fire... |
... started
more than 18 hours ago. More
fire pics at the end. |
| The runners finally arrive and look
exhausted. |
The host is relieved that most people
didn't get lost. |
Relaxation set in after a beer and with
their
great views. |
| From the terrace you could ... |
... see the Avila
Mountains ... |
... and the Chacao area. |
| You could also see... |
... down the valley to... |
... the
Eastern barrios. |
I would love to have been in on this
discussion!! |
Father
proudly telling his son how hard their Hash was! |
| Ahhh, finally time for the down-downs! |
The hares are introduced and asked to
drink for us.... |
... and Eivind
aims his remaining
beer at Torill.. no penalty? |
| The virgins are introduced... |
... interviewed ... |
... and asked to drink. |
| As people innocently watch ... |
... others are called up for various
infractions ... |
... and the remaining hope they don't get
called! |
| Drink for losing your hat... |
... or for taking a taxi back! |
Ah heck...
you and you drink ... |
| ...
OK, not you and you ... |
...
but all of you too ... |
... and
take a penalty for talking! |
| Time for a song...
no excuses for not singing along. |
... these kids don't like the sound of
what they hear... |
... so they blow the horn to signal
dinner! |
| The ravenous group dines ... |
... on burgers & sausages... |
... and salads on the side. |
| After dinner, time for some song and
dance. |
It was somewhat hard to follow all of
their moves. |
To
top it off, we tried to sing while holding our tongues! |
| Hmmm, maybe we will just stay on the
sidelines. |
What is this... a person just showing
up... quite late! |
After a drink and a song the formal part
was over. |
| Thanks to Eivind and Torill
(& their children) for hosting this event and for sharing their gorgeous penthouse
(and terrace) with us for the
evening. |
| These
are more pictures of the burning Government building... we understand that no
tall buildings in Caracas have sprinkler systems; they cannot pump the water
that high... yikes! |
| Fire
as seen in La Castellana; we could smell
burning rubber. |
Helicopter
trying to drop water on the building; good luck!! |
This
and the rest are views of the fire from San Ramon... |
