Hash #530: Puerto Cabello Beach Hash from April 29th - May 1st

Description: Most of the hash gang arrived in the Puerto Cabello area on Firday night and enjoyed a night out on the town.  This pictorial report begins the next day, on Saturday, April 30th.  The group of 18 traveled to a nearby beach and immediately set out on the hash.

A sand bank and narrow creek at Patanemo Beach, near Puerto Cabello; a place forgotten by most people. The view over the bay was quite nice; the weather was decent.

This steep path was a piece of cake for the energetic hashers. The hash marks were tough to leave in the rocky terrain. The shoreline view from the top of the hill was quite nice.

The 'No Entry' sign did not daunt the intrepid hashers. If you can't go under, then you must go over ... or through! Are we nearly there yet?

OK, this 'landscape from Mars'  was neat at first, but where is the ocean?   ... they said it was just around the corner!!
Where is the person who belongs to this pair of shoes? A determined hasher ... hoping they are going the right way.

Ah, we are back near the ocean with beautiful tropical flowers. The beach isn't as easy as expected; where's the sand? The last of a dying breed.. a true gentleman hasher!

Rocky outcrops, but the beach is becoming sandy. Yeah, I think we are nearly back; this was a rough hash! An exhausted hasher taking a well deserved break.

<==== A view of the nice beach
area as sunset was nearing.

====>
This snake came out to scare the women; but the hash women are a different breed and were not bothered at all.

The group decided to hold 'the circle' right away, as it was getting dark.

Did anyone enjoy the hash?
A resounding yes!
A down-down for the newcomer 'virgins'; quite a welcome!

A father-kids down-down ...
I think dad finished first!
 A hash 'christening', where
Lionel becomes 'Big Deep'.
Ah... the rewards of a hard day of beach work.

After a nice shower and a short nap, the jovial group met for aperitifs before dinner; they look great!

The next morning (Sunday) finds the group in fine shape... as they head towards Isla Larga.
Sunglasses are good for hiding the 'red-eyes of hangovers'. This is fun and we look great in these fashionable jackets! Arriving safely at their deserted island destination.

No hash today, just a walk past some mangrove swamps. The lone and winding path through the island interior. A great spot to contemplate future stock purchases.

It was great for the group to have the area to themselves. Making their beach 'camp'; it was a great place! It's a warm days and most were ready for a swim.
Swimmers beware ... of this  intrepid snorkeler. It's been a tough weekend and periodic naps felt good. King of the rock; surrounded by lovely turquoise water.

Time for a watermelon snack; not a lot of beer was being consumed today ... I wonder why? You know, it is very good for the skin ... I have heard.

The group then moved to Alcatraz island where there are coral reefs
and nesting grounds for turtles and alligators; no hiking the beach here!
Some hashers just love to pose for the photographer. It has just been too much for other hashers. Fancy a quick dip?  I hear there are no gators out there today.

Hashers hobble back to the boat Down a beer in 30 seconds ?
... easy peasy for some!
And whatever you don't finish you spray on your room-mate.
A healthy snack for the trip back to Puerto Cabello. Who would like a bite?  No one wanted to be 'the first'. This stuff is hard to eat without making a mess!

This is the way to do it; drop all vanity and just dig in! Finish in one bite?  It would be a piece of cake... and fun to watch! A final beer-resuscitation for  hashers who don't need to drive back to Caracas tonight.

These final shots show the harbor and town areas of Puerto Cabello... which will hopefully be a yearly 'outta-town' beach weekend hash each year.

Thanks to Andre for organizing the event!
