Hash # 531: Norwegian Day - Miranda


	Hash #531: Norwegian Day Hash Saturday, May 14th in Miranda We met at Anna's place in the hills to the east of Caracas to celebrate the Norwegian National Day. The Noggi's set a hilly hash for us and then provided salmon, champagne & a specialty dish.

The gathering begins at 3:00.	The driveway soon fills up...	... and spills onto the street.


*With the large number of people it takes a while to "circle up".*	*Good turn-out of teenagers; seeking comfort in numbers.*	*OK it looks like the group is settled down.*


The hash 'virgins' are introduced; each is asked why they are in Venezuela & who invited them. We had a lot of new people today; some local Venezuelans and some Ex-patriots.


After the Introductions we got a short explanation of todays Hash... then the horns sounds!


The Hash begins.	Off we go, downhill for just a bit.	The Avila views were great.


We have an occasional vehicle; they were surprisingly patient.	The route begins to go up some steep hills.	Don't follow your kid, he's going the wrong way!


At the top we have nice views and can head back down hill.	Shortcutting is against hash rules ... and this is proof!	The youngsters bring up the rear on the final stretch back.


The last hashers to the finish... too busy talking to walk fast!	The garden soon fills up as the Hashers return and begin to socialize; and to load up on snacks & refreshments.


Interesting conversations ...	... much merriment ...	... and smiles all around!

The kids were unusually quiet...	... but then there was... trouble?	Nope .... only .... tttttt ... turtles!

The turtles made it around the garden, as the kids placed them in all sorts of places. They seemed to enjoy sunning themselves on top of people's heads... which is better than being in the soup bowl, I guess.


Prepare the down-downs ...	... as it is time to "Circle Up" ...	... and to 'enjoy' hash traditions.


The hosts & hares are introduced & thanked. They don't stay back-to-back, but have no trouble finishing their drinks.		Welcome to an ex-CH3 visitor & a hasher that just moved here.


The hash Virgins are invited to the circle. A few of the traditions are explained and they obey the down-down instructions.		A bum- to-bum down-down for some silly infraction.


A shoe down-down breaks-in an un-reported pair of new shoes.	We have a short discussion about the hopeful design of a Norwegian Day t-shirt ... followed by a Haberdasher down-down.


Yet more down-downs for violation of the Hash dress-code ... in other words, these veterans aren't wearing a hash t-shirt!		What, I cannot use my hands? hmmm, no problem!


An adult surprise; some fizzy stuff is uncorked ...	... as a follow-on to the great Norwegian salmon starter.	We toast while the Noggi's sing their National Anthem


More songs ensue... another hash specialty!	The CH3 (or CHHH, or Caracas Hash House Hariers) hat is passed to a new recipient, who will add an item & bring it to the next hash.


Next hash - Margarita - let's see who plans to go!	That is it for the formalities of 'the circle'. Now it's time to relax and resume the social interactions.


The dinner bell rings and a line quickly forms.	We find the hosts have prepared a tasty Norwegian specialty.	Hmmm, do you have some kind of food that I don't?

The group rested a bit and then began the sad ritual of saying goodbye... ...but only until the next hash!
