Hash #589: El Volcan Hash in La Boyera

Mike set a tough walk/run up into the hills above El Hatillo for this hash.
Afterwards the group traveled to his place in Los Samanes for a chili chow-down.

The group gathers... the traffic was pretty bad so we decided to wait a little longer than normal for other people to show up ...

... the beer flowed early!

The group was circled up and the hares (Mike & Milena) were called in to explain the route.

On a computer, the route looked relatively easy ... especially using satellite technology!

From the ground though, we were told to pass through a baseball park, go over a fence, up a steep, steep hill...

On, On... let's go! OK, we went past the park and could see the hills looming above.

Now over a broken down fence .... to where?              Yes ...
... to some steep climbing ahead!

Some took a false trail into the 'jungle' ... and they are probably still out there today.

We are now past the steepest part and can see the El Hatillo & La Lagunita areas behind us ... on on, there is another small hill!

The walkers are now at the highest point for them ... wow, what a nice overview of Caracas!

We got a great view of La Trinidad, El Cafetal and the areas further behind; the weather was perfect.

To the left we could see the go-cart track and to the right we could see La Lagunita Golf course.

The were a few pretty samples of flora & fauna found on the hilltop.

As well as views of some major construction projects that are ruining the green areas!

The walkers could already think about heading down, but the runners still had to go up to the top of El Volcan ... to the antennas! From there they saw the hill where the walkers had just been.

The overall view from the top of El Volcan is fantastic and was well worth the effort for the runners to get there... which is easy for me to say, since I drove up to the top to take these pictures!

Everyone started back and a well-deserved beer stop allowed the hashers to gather back together.

Yes, it is now time to finish the hash and head to Mike's for the remaining activities.

At Mike's the group gathers and, after socializing for awhile, the circle is formed for Down-Downs.

After the down-downs, we chowed down some chili and socialized more as we watched the dazzling sunset over Caracas.

Thanks to everyone who helped with this successful event!
