This was, once again, one of the best hashes of the year, due to the extreme efforts of the
Norwegian gang; many thanks!
The hash group met at Anne-Brigitte's place in Miranda
and immediately dove into the contents of the cooler boxes... it was already quite warm out.

After a few beers, the Viking sweat was already oozing from these Norwegian representatives

Time to circle up and introduce today's activities

The group is told "only 98 more hashes until Hash #700"! We have a few 'virgins'

With so many Hashers leaving this summer, new hashers are more than welcome to join!

Without too many more words, the group was ready to begin the run / walk (10% runners today)

The walking trail led immediately up a series of long hills. Vultures awaiting hash laggers

After a bit we entered and area that was park-like ... lots of nice, green shade trees.

As we entered an area with a nice bamboo forest, we stumbled across a small hummingbird that was in obvious trouble; it probably got hit by a car...

... let's take it back with us, as it will probably die out here by itself.

Nice Hill-side Apartments ... but garbage all over the hill?

Interesting building methods

We came up out last hill and passed a series of small, cute homes ....

... it was all downhill from here!

The views of the Avila mountains from this point were stunning ... the rain has helped the greenery.

The greeting committee : you girls look much too 'cutsy' ... what mischief have you been into while we were gone!

Socializing ensued and summer travel plans were discussed ... then the runers returned!

We survived!   The drinks and snacks were complimented by salmon & reindeer!

A box full of kittens brought  'oohs and aahs' from the women ... the guys were happy with beer!

Remember hummy ... he was cared for ... and was fed sugar-water  ...  then he flew away ... yeah!

Time for the Circle and for down-downs....

Thanks to the hosts & Hares

Cheers to the soon-to-be hash newlyweds (7/7/7 in the islands)

Virgins and their sponsors were introduced ... welcome to all!

The GM (Grand Marshall) introduces the RA (Religious Advisor) who is dressed in Viking garb and introduces the ice bags... to make getting a down-down penalty a little less enjoyable.

The kids test out the ice while the RA handed out various punihment for infractions to hash rules.

The handing out of hash names, called "christening" is an important tradition ... for those who have hashed with the group long enough so the RA can come up with an apppropriate name.

These gals can't wait to grow up and get their own hash name!

On a more somber note, we did have to say goodbye to Tormod and Cheryl who will be heading to Estonia with Elouise and Alexander.

We thank them for their support over the years ... and we wish them good luck and our hopes will be to see them sometime again in the future.

The highlight of the ceremony was the handover of the GM position.  Like in every good, democratic society... the hash leadership is changed on a periodic basis.

A vote was taken and Fredy will take over as GM for the next year ... good luck and thanks to Eivind for his support for the past year!

The Hash Horn responsibility returned to Steve ... who definitely has enough wind for the job!

The Circle was closed with the "Hash Hymn" and a great Norwegian meal ensued...

...many hanks to all who helped!

Lets have a enjoyable & safe summer   ...   ON ON   !!!
